Yucatan is your next destination!
Day 1. - Probaditas Yucatecas Gourmet (City and dinner tour)
Enjoy an experience designed for travelers who are interested in our traditional Yucatecan cuisine.
We’ll begin our journey at Monumento a la Patria at 6 p.m., which is located on Paseo de Montejo Avenue. Throughout the tour on foot, we are having a special storytelling about the construction of this main and important avenue, one of the most important highlights, and local symbol from Merida. Also, without missing the reference to the henequen, a key element for the creation of this famous avenue.
While we head to “El Remate de Montejo” (a lightful market starting in the evening), alongside the walking from the Remate de Montejo, you will try different sweet appetizers, such as the well-known marquesitas! An ice-cream or a delicious champola (a type of milk shake) at Dulcería y Sorbetería Colón, an iconic ice-cream store. Their ice-creams are water-based; coconut, mamey, soursop and mango are the favorite flavors from our visitors.
Nonetheless… You’ve got to make some room for the main course. Enjoy the handcrafted beer experience with a five-course pairing dinner whilst you look at the amazing view of the Cathedral from the restaurant’s terrace.
Itinerary
Day 2- Celestún
Celestún, a paradisiac eco-tourist spot that belongs to Yucatan. It has an exceptional landscape embodied in the world’s natural heritage that exists in this biosphere reserve: Reserva de la Biosfera Ría Celestún.
Let’s go to the spring el Tambor (the drums), you will be able to contemplate the beautifulness and attractiveness that the pink(Caribbean) flamingo has; an extraordinary population only known in North America that link up Ria de Celestún as a feeding, resting and meeting point for the flamingos. The flamingos that you can find at Celestun are definitely the pinkest ones in all over the world. Join us to have this experience by boat! (guide: not included).
Day 3- Uxmal and Museo del Chocolate (The Chocolate Museum)
Uxmal, an Archeological site, and Museo del Chocolate (The Chocolate Museum).
Zona arqueológica de Uxmal y Museo del Chocolate
This adventure will start at Uxmal, an ancient Mayan city located 80 kilometers (24.8 miles) from Merida. Uxmal reflects the greatness of the Puuc art (puuc meaning “mountainous”. Declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage Center in 1999, the pre-Hispanic Town of Uxmal holds the highest point you could be in the state, only 210 meters high above the sea-level. Amongst its most popular buildings we can find the Governor’s Palace, the Nunnery Quadrangle (Cuadrángulo de las Monjas), the Pyramid of the Magician, and others.
In due course, we will visit a pretty unconventional site. It has been given an interactive approach since its foundation: the protagonists are YOU! The concept relies on the rescue of the history of the cacao. You’ll be surrounded by cacao trees from a custom-botanical garden along for the ride. To wrap-up and conclude: a lovely meal at a traditional restaurant from the area (food expenses: not included).
